Leyland Titan PD3/14

When I walked into the Transport Museum in Greater Manchester, I came across this handsome bus, all on its own, with permission to board the bus (very rarely does that happen) and enjoy the simple but functional design of this lovely Leyland.

  • Chassis & Model: Leyland Titan PD3/14 – part of the long-wheelbase PD3 series with classic exposed radiator, manual (synchromesh) gearbox, and air (compressed‑air) brakes.
  • Constructed: 1968 with an East Lancs H38/32R body.
  • Delivered: February 1968 to Stockport Corporation as fleet number 71, registration KJA 871F.
  • Transferred: 1 November 1969 to the Southern division of SELNEC PTE.
  • Renumbered: March 1970 to 5871 in SELNEC’s renumbering scheme.
  • New ownership: 1 April 1974 passed to Greater Manchester PTE following local government reorganisation.
